Notice of Change in Garbage & Recycling Hauler Service

Effective, January 1, 2026

*What to Expect*

The Town of Plover recently signed a contract with Harter’s Fox Valley Disposal Services, to start the garbage and recycling collection for the Town of Plover residents, beginning January 1, 2026.

What to expect:

During the Month of December 2025 –

*Sometime during the middle of December Harter’s will be delivering carts to every household. When you receive those carts, please set them aside until after the 1st of the year.

*The last garbage and recycling collection that will occur by Waste Management will be on Saturday, December 27th. This is due to the Christmas holiday.

Please be sure to have both of your Waste Management carts out to the roadside by Saturday, December 27th. What will happen is Waste Management will empty your carts, and then they will take your carts. So please place them out, whether they are full or not.

During the Month of January 2026 – 

*The first garbage and recycling collection day with Harter’s will be on Friday, January 2nd.

After this initial collection, the Town of Plover’s new weekly collection date will be Thursdays. Please be sure to have your carts out on Wednesday nights, or no later than 5:00 a.m. on Thursdays.

January Schedule:

Friday, January 2nd(due to New Year’s Holiday)

Thursday, January 8th

Thursday, January 15th

Thursday, January 22nd

Thursday, January 29th

Harter’s will have a packet of information connected the of lid of one of your carts. Please be sure to refer to that for recycling information, Harter’s contact information, etc.

Snowbirds – 

If you are heading south for the winter, or simply will not be around for the December changes to occur - if you are able to haul your Waste Management carts, you can drop those off at the Town Hall anytime now.

If you can’t haul your carts, you can see if a family member or friend can come over and pull your Waste Management carts out to the end of your driveway before the end of December. If this is not possible, then before you leave, please contact Town Clerk, Valerie Parker, at 715-581-4603 / vparkerplover@gmail.com.

If you will be gone during the time that Harter’s delivers all of their carts, see if you can have someone bring those carts up to your house, and if you do not have anyone who can, you can also contact Valerie Parker on that.

2025 Holidays

With our 2025 weekly garbage and recycling collection falling on Fridays, the holiday weeks where the Town of Plover’s collection will be delayed a day (to that Saturday), will be:

*New Year's Day – January 1st

*Memorial Day - May 26th

*Labor Day – September 1st

*Thanksgiving Day - November 27th

*Christmas Day - December 25th

Issues or concerns with your garbage and/or recycling services can be directed to Waste Management, at (888) 960-0008.

Every two years the Town of Plover offers a spring clean up where residents can place large items out at the roadside for collection by Waste Management.  

The next spring clean-up will be held on May 9, 2025.

Did you know that Marathon County Solid Waste Department (Landfill in Ringle) is a very inexpensive way to dispose of your excess garbage and unwanted large bulky items?  Currently, for just $35.00 you can dispose of up to 1,000 pounds of waste!

Let’s make recycling more successful by “Recycling Right”

· Never, ever put garbage in the recycling bin.

· Never, ever place plastic bags or film in the recycling bin.

· Never, ever place grease-soaked or soiled paper products in the recycling bin.

· Never, ever place large plastic items in the recycling bin.

· Never, ever place batteries, light bulbs or waste oil in the recycling bin.

· Never, ever placed household hazardous waste in the recycling bin.
